Bronny James, son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, has been medically cleared to play in the NBA and is expected to participate in the draft combine this week, according to an anonymous source familiar with the matter. This clearance was reported by ESPN.
Bronny, who played 25 games for Southern California as a freshman last season, had a cardiac arrest in July 2023 and underwent a procedure for a congenital heart defect. The NBA’s fitness-to-play panel of three doctors reviewed his medical records and determined he is fit to play. He is set to join on-court games and a media session at the combine.
The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists at USC. He has until later this month to decide whether to stay in the draft or return to college basketball.
