Basketball icon and philanthropist LeBron James has announced plans to launch a new educational academy aimed at empowering the younger generation, continuing his longstanding commitment to community upliftment and youth development.
The new institution, tentatively titled the LeBron James Future Leaders Academy, will focus on providing world-class education, mentorship, and leadership training for underserved children across the United States. The initiative builds upon the foundation set by his widely acclaimed I PROMISE School in Akron, Ohio, which has already shown measurable success in improving academic performance and social outcomes among its students.
“Investing in our youth is the most important investment we can make,” James said in a statement released by the LeBron James Family Foundation. “I’ve always believed that every child deserves the opportunity to dream big and achieve greatness, no matter where they come from. Expanding a Legacy
LeBron’s new academy is set to go beyond traditional schooling. While the I PROMISE School mainly serves elementary and middle school students in his hometown, the Future Leaders Academy will operate as a national initiative with multiple campuses, online access, and programs tailored for teenagers and young adults.
The academy will emphasize academics, life skills, sports development, mental health awareness, and entrepreneurship. According to the Foundation, the goal is not just to teach students how to succeed in school, but how to succeed in life.

National Reach and Partnerships
The first campus is expected to open in Los Angeles in fall 2026, with plans to expand to other major cities such as Chicago, Atlanta, and New York over the following years. The academy will operate in collaboration with local public schools, community leaders, and established educational organizations to ensure quality and accessibility.
In addition to academic curricula, the academy will feature programs built around personal development. These include public speaking workshops, financial literacy courses, community service projects, and exposure to diverse career paths, from technology and healthcare to arts and entertainment.
