Tottenham’s ‘very good’ academy ace suffers injury blow after scoring outrageous goal

Tottenham Hotspur’s academy sensation Will Lankshear is continuing to prove himself for the Lilywhites but the forward has suffered a blow.

Prior to Tottenham Hotspur’s first game of the Premier League season, which ended in a 1-1 draw against Leicester City at King Power Stadium, things were looking positive in pre-season for the Lilywhites.

Spurs’ key midfield signing Archie Gray impressed fans of the North London club following his summer transfer from Leeds United and the club’s academy was producing some serious talent.

Mikey Moore was compared to Lamine Yamal, but another academy forward had impressed Ange Postecoglou during the off-season.

Will Lankshear scores brilliant goal for Spurs’ academy
During pre-season, 19-year-old forward Will Lankshear was praised by Postecoglou, and the teenager looked ready for first-team minutes.

Spurs completed the signing of Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke earlier this month and the Englishman will be first choice striker.

Brazilian forward Richarlison is attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League and this has led to talk that Lankshear could be in line for some first team minutes.

Lankshear was not involved in Spurs’ game at the King Power Stadium on Monday night but the Englishman featured against Bristol Rovers and Lankshear scored a tremendous goal.

From near the edge of the penalty box, Lankshear took a touch and fired the ball into the top corner and really showed his clinical nature in front of goal and he could be given chances in Spurs’ first team.

Lankshear suffers cruel injury blow
However, whilst Lankshear’s goal against the EFL League Two side was a brilliant one, the Englishman has suffered a blow in his hopes of getting some first-team football under Postecoglou.

Lankshear was substituted towards the end of the game for Spurs’ academy side with what appeared to be discomfort in his left leg and this would be a big blow for the teenage forward.

Postecoglou had a quartet of teenage talent that he could rely on this summer but if Lankshear’s injury is a serious one, this could be a major blow for the Englishman and indeed for the Australian.
