“Brighton Intensifies Pursuit of South American Talent – Club Plans Summer Sale”
In March, we reported that Brighton & Hove Albion were monitoring Inter Miami’s Diego Gómez, as indicated by sources from Paraguay. By June, Paraguayan journalist Andrés Rolón provided an update on X (formerly Twitter), stating that Brighton are leveraging the situation, likely to secure a low-cost deal, to bring the midfielder to England during the summer transfer window.
Gómez, who has made 13 appearances for Inter Miami this year, is contracted until 2026 with an option for an additional year. According to Rolón, Inter Miami intends to finalize a transfer agreement but keep Gómez until the end of the year. Besides Brighton, other Premier League clubs are also interested in the Paraguay international, though Rolón did not specify which ones.
Versus echoed these claims, stating that Gómez is “getting closer and closer” to the Premier League, with a particular focus on Brighton’s pursuit. They noted that Gómez is valued at $10 million (£7.9 million), a fee Brighton is expected to manage without issue. Versus also mentioned that West Ham United had shown initial interest in Gómez, who is currently recovering from an ankle injury.
