Everton manager Sean Dyche looks to be slowly but surely building a squad that is capable of avoiding any relegation woes.
The Merseyside outfit have been involved in Premier League relegation battles for the past two seasons, narrowly staying up last time out with a final day win against Bournemouth.
It has threatened to be a similar scenario this time around, but a three-match unbeaten run has put plenty of distance between Everton and the bottom three.
The drive up the table has been a real team effort, but certain players are undoubtedly standing out, one of which is defender Jarrad Branthwaite.
The young centre-back, who spent last season on loan at PSV, has formed a solid partnership alongside the more experienced James Tarkowski.
His displays will have delighted Dyche, but now the boss will also be worried at the latest news surrounding the centre-back, with FootballTransfers reporting on Monday (13 November) that Newcastle want to sign Branthwaite in January.

Dyche will be doing his utmost to keep the player, but such retention may be out of his hands due to the club’s financial issues.
As per Sky News (26 October), the Toffees reported losses of £371.8million in the past three years, as well as having faced annual losses for five successive years, amounting to over £430million during this period.
One area that may be used to ease such financial woes could be player sales, with Everton previously going down this route by selling young winger Anthony Gordon to Newcastle for £45million [Sky Sports, 30 January].
And the Magpies may try and take advantage of the situation once more, this time with Branthwaite. With their £300million Saudi-led backing [Sky Sports, 8 October 2021], Newcastle are undoubtedly capable of spending big in transfer windows, which may be the only consolation for Dyche regarding his defensive gem.
