Everton takeover drama: Two new buyers open talks – sources

Everton now have two new buyers in talks to take over the club following the latest collapse, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Patrick Malone and British firm Vici Private Finance are in the preliminary stage of discussions to purchase the Merseysiders.
This comes after The Friedkin Group takeover collapsed following confirmation that negotiations with the Texas-based company have ended.
Sources say there is no point guessing a timeline for a possible takeover at this stage, but there is interest from an American consortium being led by Malone.
He is a former LA Dodgers General Manager and has been interested in the Merseyside club all along.
While he wasn’t seen as a preferred bidder, Malone is now back in the frame alongside Vici Private Finance.

The Merseyside club are £550million in debt, which is an issue anyone taking over would have to address.
