Leeds told £12.5m player that annoyed Daniel Farke could now play an ‘instrumental’ role
Leeds United have made a number of new signings this summer but it is a returning player that Carlton Palmer thinks could now plan “instrumental” role in Leeds’ push for promotion.
Having sold six players, let five go on loan and a whole host more departing at the end of their deals, Leeds have had to bring in new signings. In come Joe Rodon, Jayden Bogle, Joe Rothwell and Alex Cairns.
Leeds have taken six young stars with them to Germany and Sam Chambers, Charlie Crew and James Debayo will be hopeful of first-team game time during the 2024-25 campaign under boss Daniel Farke.
Especially Crew, who already has a Wales cap to his name. At Harrogate last Friday, Debayo started while Chambers scored and clearly, both have caught the eye as Farke runs the rule over his new-look squad.

What has come as a surprise is that both Max Wober and Brenden Aaronson have come back to Elland Road ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. Aaronson looks to have already shelved the criticisms on socials.
Wober is still a sore one for many, given he left for Gladbach last summer just before a friendly against Monaco when Farke had expected him to stay. Wober left as he wanted to solidify his Euro 2024 claims.
He did that, but Leeds wanted a £12.5m fee for Wober and Gladbach couldn’t afford it. So he is now back at Leeds and former Whites midfielder Carlton Palmer told Football League World he could be important.

“This decision makes perfect sense. I believe that Daniel Farke wasn’t too happy when Wober left the club. He’s 26, three years left on his contract and he should be a Leeds United player for the foreseeable future.
“Wober could play a key part, especially as Liam Cooper has departed. If you’ve got a player that has been playing in the Bundesliga in Wober, (he is) a very good player and he could have an instrumental role.”

Suddenly, Leeds awash with top-quality options in the middle of the defence. The Whites finished last season with newly-announced captain Ethan Ampadu alongside his Wales teammate Joe Rodon.
Rodon has signed permanently and is first choice, one of the first names on the team sheet. But how does Daniel Farke incorporate Wober and Struijk, while keeping Junior Firpo’s attacking prowess out wide?
It is impossible to think that a player of Wober’s quality, and Struijk’s leadership, could find themselves on the bench. A back three of Rodon, Wober and Struijk, Jayden Bogle and Firpo as wing-backs, may work.
