Moyes Wants Him’ – Exclusive: West Ham plotting to sign red-hot star who left Celtic in 2021
Football Insider has been informed by sources that West Ham is interested in finalizing a January transfer for Jeremie Frimpong, a star for Bayer Leverkusen.
As reported on the current edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham, Aston Villa and Everton scout Bryan King claimed that the 23-year-old is the ‘type of player that David Moyes wants to bring in’.
King, who has collaborated extensively with Moyes and maintains strong ties in high-level football circles, clarified that the former Celtic player fits Moyes’ ideal managerial profile for West Ham.
On Wednesday, January 10, Football Insider disclosed that Liverpool is also targeting Frimpong for a signing this month.
Given Frimpong’s impressive performance this season, it is believed that Man United, Aston Villa, and Aston Villa all have an interest in him.
In 22 appearances for Leverkusen in all competitions in 2023–24, Frimpong has provided 10 assists and scored an impressive seven goals from right-back, while frequently pushing forward into a wide midfield role.

Prior to leaving Manchester City for Celtic in 2019, Frimpong spent nine years in the club’s junior system.
He made 51 appearances, provided eight assists, and scored three goals while he was in Scotland.
Frimpong also contributed to Celtic’s 2019–20 treble-winning campaign, which saw the Glasgow powerhouses win the Scottish Premiership, the Scottish Cup, and the Scottish League Cup.
In January 2021, the Netherlands international moved to Leverkusen and inked a four-and-a-half-year contract there.
Later on, Frimpong’s deal with Leverkusen was extended, keeping him with the German team until 2028.
