The transfer window is soon expected to heat up following the conclusion of international tournaments, with all of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United likely to be busy. The Blues recently added Renato Veiga to their list of summer signings and have been handed a boost in their pursuit of another. Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge and has reportedly now asked to leave the Etihad Stadium.
Arsenal, meanwhile, have seen a bid rejected by Wolves for goalkeeper Daniel Bentley, while Mikel Arteta has vowed to be active in the market. A new striker is said to be on the agenda, with Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres again touted as a target.

Gareth Southgate on England contract extension
Gareth Southgate says he will need “a few days” to decide his future after Sunday’s European Championship final but already has “a pretty good idea” of his decision.
The Football Association want Southgate to stay on as England manager for the 2026 World Cup, irrespective of the result against Spain in Berlin this weekend.
The 53-year-old’s contract is up in December, allowing for a period of reflection after the Euros, but Southgate says he will not “need weeks” to make up his mind.
Asked if he knew whether the final would be his last game in charge, Southgate said: “No.
“The way my emotions have gone over the last five weeks, it would be ridiculous for me to think about anything beyond Sunday.
“We’ve got time to make decisions. I won’t need weeks. But also, I think I’ve earned the right to give myself a few days to think things through.

Arsenal tipped to seal ‘dream’ Nico Williams deal
Arsenal have been tipped to sign Nico Williams in a “dream” summer deal and told to make a move for Victor Osimhen to solve their striker problems.
“Arsenal’s dream signing this summer would be Nico Williams,” Petit told bet365’s Euro 2024.
“I’ve been watching him in Spain with his club, but he has impressed me a lot during Euro 2024, especially against Italy. It was a nightmare for the right back. I think this guy could have a huge impact at Arsenal.

Crystal Palace explore Marcus Edwards deal
Crystal Palace are exploring a deal for Sporting winger Marcus Edwards.
According to Sky Sports, the former Tottenham forward is on a list of targets to replace Michael Olise, who joined Bayern for £51million.
No offer has been submitted amid reports Edwards could be available for around £20m of which Spurs would be due a sizeable chunk.
He is understood to be open to a return to the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta maps out transfer plans
Mikel Arteta believes the Premier League’s enforcement of Profit and Sustainability Rules has made clubs wary to do deals and slowed the transfer market down this summer.
Everton and Nottingham Forest were hit with points deductions last season for breaching PSR, while the likes of Newcastle were forced to frantically do deals before the end of last month to stay compliant.
Arteta believes the environment has made clubs wary about splashing the cash and it partly explains why the summer transfer window is yet to get going so far.
“A very different summer, with the Euros and the Copa America, it is different,” Arteta told Arsenal’s website.

Tottenham weigh up Bradley Locko move
More on Tottenham now as a new name has entered the fray.
According to Paul O’Keefe on Twitter, Brest left-back Bradley Locko is a potential option this summer.
There is nothing advanced over a deal but interest is there, it is claimed.
Locko is currently with France’s Olympics squad.

Tottenham and Everton reach Dele Alli agreement
Talking of Tottenham, they have reached an agreement with Everton to allow Dele Alli to sign a new contract with the Toffees.
According to the Mail, Spurs were due a fee if Dele signed a contract extension at Goodison Park.
Everton wanted that fee waived, and Spurs have agreed. Dele has been training with the Toffees and will be given a chance to prove himself in pre-season.
