Everton could sign 27-goal striker as transfer bombshell emerges

Everton could reportedly be handed the chance to sign a 27-goal forward this summer after a surprise transfer revelation.

The Toffees are again on the hunt for a new striker, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin potentially on the move in the market, with Beto failing to light up the Premier League last season with just three goals in 30 appearances for Sean Dyche’s side.

With star midfielder Amadou Onana set for a £50 move to Aston Villa, the money will be there for Everton to sign a top striker heading into the new season, with reinforcements needed if the Merseyside club are to enjoy a stress-free campaign for the first time in years.

And Everton could be offered the opportunity to land a top striker this summer.

Everton-linked Sammie Szmodics could be put up for sale

According to the Sun (14/07, pg 59), Blackburn Rovers are open to selling star striker Sammie Szmodics if the Championship side fail to tie the 28-year-old forward down to a new deal, with Everton believed to be interested.

The Republic of Ireland international was one of the best-performing attackers in the EFL last season as Szmodics hit an incredible 27 goals in the Championship for Blackburn, with the forward now worth as much as £20m this summer.

With Everton in need of a striker, Szmodics could be the ideal forward for Dyche heading into the new season, especially with the Toffees now in the money with the impending sale of Onana to Villa.

Indeed, Szmodics rejecting a new contract will be huge for Everton, who could land one of the in-form strikers in England with Blackburn now setting their stall out on what to do with their star man.

Szmodics could be a great fit for Everton under Dyche

Everton’s luck with strikers in recent years has been poor, to say the least, with Calvert-Lewin struggling with injuries as signing after signing have simply failed to make much of an impact at Goodison Park.

Yet that could all change in Szmodics, who last year established himself as one of the form strikers in England with Blackburn and this summer could now be ready for a new challenge in the Premier League at the peak of his powers.

With Blackburn already outlining how Szmodics could be sold, the Toffees need to be prepared to move for the striker, who on Merseyside could be a fantastic addition under Dyche in the new season.
