Crystal Palace star will be ‘disappointed’ with Hodgson call as ‘honest’ claim emerges
Crystal Palace summer signing Rob Holding has hardly featured since his arrival from Arsenal, and he may now be disappointed at his lack of game time.
The defender is yet to feature in the Premier League for Crystal Palace, with his only appearance so far coming in the Carabao Cup defeat to Manchester United earlier this season.
The 28-year-old left Arsenal in search of more game time, but has not found that at Selhurst Park, with Roy Hodgson preferring Joachim Andersen and Marc Guehi at centre-back, and journalist Dean Jones has now claimed that Holding will be frustrated.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones claimed that whilst Holding may be disappointed, it is no surprise that he is not playing given the form of Andersen and Guehi.
“He has to be disappointed with the impact that he’s made so far because it’s been so minimal,” he stated.
“When you’re leaving Arsenal to go across London and join a team that’s not at the same level, of course, you want to show immediately that you can make an impact on the first team and you have expectations of yourself to be at that level, but he’s still got a lot of proving to do it seems.
“Let’s be honest, he’s coming into a defence that is one of the best in the division. I think the combination of Andersen and Guehi is about as high as you can expect for a team with this level within the Premier League.
“So he’s got strong competition, but it’s up to him to prove that he’s able to be a part of it because when it comes to defenders, Roy Hodgson likes stability. He likes reliability, and it takes a lot for him to break up a combination that’s working.”
The deadline day deal which saw Holding move across London to Selhurst Park was a good deal for Crystal Palace, as they landed an experienced defender in his prime years for a small fee.
However, this may have not been the best move for Holding. The Englishman was thrust into the first-team in the middle of a title race following injuries in the Arsenal backline, and he was disappointing as the Gunners saw their challenge falter.
He intended to leave to find more regular action, but perhaps Crystal Palace was the wrong move for him as he joined a team with two outstanding players in his position, and centre-backs are not regularly rotated unless necessary.
It remains to be seen whether he will gain more chances to play, but if not, then his position at the club may come under review in the January transfer window: even if Palace want to keep him, he may want to move on.
