Tottenham need to battle off Bayern Munich again to land ‘unplayable’ forward this summer

Tottenham Hotspur’s summer plans are looking set to see Bayern Munich stand in their way once again.

Spurs have finally got their summer transfer window up and going with their first permanent signing in youngster Archie Gray.

The international tournaments may have hindered Tottenham in the summer window with some players still not having enjoyed their summer break.

Last summer saw a lot of change happen at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and perhaps the biggest was the sale of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich.

But it now seems that Spurs are going to have to battle with Bayern once again this summer if they are going to land one of their attacking targets.

Now Tottenham have brought in Gray, Postecoglou has a new option in midfield who could also provide cover in defence at right-back.

It is now claimed Postecoglou will be looking for Tottenham to make an attacking addition with pre-season set to get underway this weekend.

Up top is an area which Spurs came out of last season with a number of questions lingering with still no direct replacement for Kane.

But it seems there may not be a real urge to bring in a new striker this summer as Spurs continue to be linked with wide options.

According to Alasdair Gold, Spurs could use their strong relationship with Rennes to push forward in their interest in Desire Doue.

However, this is a player who is in high demand this summer having received interest from the likes of Bayern and Paris-Saint Germain.

But Tottenham’s interest in the Frenchman is said to be strong and it has not been diminished by the calibre of the clubs also believed to be in the race for the 19-year-old.

Tottenham have already beaten Bayern to Radu Dragusin
Postecoglou could take some confidence into the interest in Doue from the January signing of Radu Dragusin.

Spurs were able to fend off interest from Bayern back in January for Dragusin.

However, Doue is a player who could well be worth the hassle for Spurs with the youngster having been labeled “unplayable” by his teammate Baptiste Santamaria.

“e’s a very talented player with a great sense of football. But he’s still young (editor’s note: 18). But he’s a player who aspires to go to the biggest clubs,” he told TNT Sports.

“He’s one of a kind: he likes to hit the ball but he’s solid on his feet. Desire’s technical, percussive and physical qualities are quite incredible. When he becomes more consistent, he’ll be unplayable. For his age, he’s the most gifted youngster I’ve seen in my career.”

£60m player could make late move to Tottenham if nobody else comes in for him

Tottenham are rather hamstrung in the transfer market right now.

Spurs should have plenty of money to spend, but the fact that they aren’t playing Champions League football once again next season may mean that they’re not a priority destination for many of their targets.

One player Tottenham have had their eye on for a little while is Pedro Neto, but according to Dharmesh Sheth, speaking on Last Word on Spurs, the Portuguese winger would prefer to join a Champions League club.

However, Sheth noted that a move to Tottenham isn’t impossible, claiming that you can’t rule Spurs out as a potential destination late in the window if no other club comes in for him.

Pedro Neto could end up at Tottenham
Sheth shared what he knows about the £60m attacker.

“At the moment, and this could change, but if he was to move it’s likely he’d want to go to a club that has Champions League football next season,” Sheth said.

“That would rule Tottenham out at the moment, but that’s not to say that later in the window that if Tottenham really pushed for him and nobody else came in for him you can’t rule it out.”

Neto should be a top target
Pedro Neto wants to join a Champions League club, and he should be a top target for many of the clubs playing in that competition next season.

The Wolves star is an incredibly talented player, and almost any team playing in the Champions League next season could use a player like this.

Of course, if no interest materialises, the door could open for Spurs, but, by the sounds of things, Tottenham are very much underdogs in this race as things stand.

Neto deserves to be playing Champions League football next season, but whether or not he gets his dream move to a top club remains to be seen.
