“Rangers’ Borna Barisic Sends Heartfelt Goodbye as He Joins Trabzonspor”

Borna Barisic has shared a heartfelt message with Rangers fans on social media following his move to Trabzonspor this summer.

The club announced on 1 June that Barisic would be among the players leaving Ibrox at the end of their contracts, alongside Ryan Jack, John Lundstram, Jon McLaughlin, and Kemar Roofe.

Although Trabzonspor has not officially confirmed the transfer, Barisic was seen with a Trabzonspor shirt, as was midfielder Lundstram [atcolin via Twitter].

On Instagram on Monday (24 June), Barisic wrote: “It’s never easy to say goodbye, especially to something that means so much to you like Rangers FC means to me and my family.

“I want to thank everyone at the club and around the club for everything you’ve done for me and my family over the last six years. Thank you to all my teammates, the coaching staff, and everyone at the club for everything.

“I’ve made friends and memories for life. Lastly, I just want to thank all the fans for our fantastic relationship. I will always follow and support Rangers. Never surrender my friends, love you from the depths of my heart.”

During his six seasons at Ibrox, Barisic played 236 games for the Gers after joining from Osijek in 2018.

Despite his versatility, the left-back only made 15 Scottish Premiership appearances this season, with Ridvan Yilmaz often preferred over the Croatian.

At 31, Barisic believes he still has much to offer on the football pitch, although this doesn’t seem to be an option under Philippe Clement, as the club has recently signed Jefte from Fluminense.

Barisic will be fondly remembered for his performances at Ibrox over the years. However, the club needs to move forward, and unfortunately, he is not part of their future plans.

Despite some criticism of his performance in his final season, he will always be welcomed back at Ibrox after his move to Turkey.
