Nottingham Forest forward Anthony Elanga has expressed that his transfer to the club was incredibly significant to him as he looks to continue improving.
Speaking to Fotboll Skanalen about his experience at Nottingham Forest since joining last season, the winger reflected on his move last summer. Elanga transferred to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side for €17.5 million from Manchester United, ending his eight-year tenure at Old Trafford.
Having progressed through the youth ranks at Manchester United, Elanga broke into the first team but struggled to secure a regular starting position in the past year. Realizing he was not part of Erik ten Hag’s future plans, he made the move to Nottingham Forest, a decision that proved beneficial as he played 36 Premier League games last season, scoring five goals and providing nine assists.
Elanga found the consistent playing time he desired and has expressed his satisfaction with the situation, acknowledging that there is still more he wants to achieve. He reiterated that the move to Nottingham Forest means everything to him and that there is more to come from him.
“I think I had a good season. Nottingham stayed in the Premier League and that’s what matters,” he said. “I have scored goals and many assists. I was just trying to do my thing. What I wanted to do this season was show what I can do. Because I didn’t get much playing time in (Manchester) United and now I got a lot of playing time in Nottingham.
“The move has meant everything to me. I’m so thankful. Now I have shown the world what I can do. I know that next season will be even better.
“I know what I want to do. And I know I will do what I want to do. Now I’m just here to focus on these two games and then I know that next season will hit. I have written down the goals and they are in my head too.”
