REPORT: Everton in Pole Position to Secure Newcastle Starlet Yankuba Minteh Despite Rival Interest.

Journalist: The race to sign a new player this summer is led by Everton.

As reported by journalist Santi Aouna, Everton is in the lead race to sign Newcastle United forward Yankuba Minteh. The Merseyside club has confirmed that Tim Iroegbunam, 20, has signed a contract to join Everton from Aston Villa for an undisclosed amount. Everton’s summer acquisition is Minteh.

Fabrizio Romano stated on X on 23 June that French club Olympique Lyon had entered the battle to sign the 19-year-old winger, but the Toffees remain in the competition and have “concrete” interest in the kid. It is now Aouna’s contention on X that Everton is ahead in the competition. The Foot Mercato reporter stated, “In the Yankuba Minteh case, Everton holds the rope for the moment” (basically paraphrasing the main tweet). In general, it indicates that Everton is currently leading the competition.

A fantastic 2023–24 season on loan from Newcastle at Feyenoord saw the winger earn interest from Marseille, Borussia Dortmund, and AS Roma. Chronicle Live was informed by Minteh’s agent, Bakary Bojang, that Newcastle intends to sell the winger in the event that they receive a strong offer. In fact, the 19-year-old has already agreed personal terms with an unnamed club.

Everton could sign the player if Newcastle offloads Dominic Calvert-Lewin to the Magpies for a price greater than £35 million. Newcastle values the player at approximately £40 million.

The young winger, who scored 11 goals in all competitions for the Dutch team last season, Minteh is a versatile forward who can play across all positions up front, but he usually plays on the right-hand side. He looks like an exciting prospect, but his price could go up if Newcastle welcomes a bidding war for the player. Minteh would be a terrific addition to Everton. The young winger showed great promise during his time at Feyenoord.

Everton is not in a position to overspend because they are on a limited budget. They will therefore have to leave if they are unable to come to a fair agreement with the Magpies. The Gambia international is a wonderful player and would be a good addition for the Toffees. It appears that they are making good headway toward closing the deal thus far.
