Nottingham Forest and West Ham Targets Arsenal's Reiss Nelson in Summer Transfer Move
Nottingham Forest Initiates Contact with Arsenal Over Reiss Nelson Transfer.
West Ham and Nottingham Forest have initiated discussions with Arsenal about a potential transfer for Reiss Nelson, according to sources reported by Football Insider.
On June 6, Football Insider disclosed that Arsenal is open to receiving offers for the 24-year-old winger as they aim to raise funds for new signings this summer.
Sources indicate that Nelson has expressed his desire to leave Arsenal in order to secure regular first-team football away from the Emirates Stadium.
West Ham and Forest are leading the race for Nelson’s signature following the opening of the transfer window last week, though Brighton is also reportedly interested.
A well-informed source told Football Insider that Arsenal values Nelson, who is a product of their academy, at between £25-30 million.
Under the Profitability and Sustainability Rules, any sale of Nelson would be recorded as pure profit in Arsenal’s financial accounts.
Nelson joined Arsenal at the age of nine and progressed through their ranks to the first team but has struggled to secure consistent playing time at the senior level.
Nelson is eager to leave Arsenal as West Ham and Nottingham Forest make their moves. He made just one start in the Premier League during the 2023-24 season and did not contribute any goals in his 15 league appearances.
The 24-year-old has also gained senior experience abroad with loan spells at Feyenoord and Hoffenheim.
Nelson is contracted with Arsenal until June 2027, following a new deal signed in July 2023, with an option for the club to extend his contract for an additional year.
Selling the winger will increase Mikel Arteta’s transfer budget as the club aims to surpass Man City in the race for the Premier League title next season.
However, Football Insider reported on Monday (17 June) that Arsenal will not hurry to sign a new centre-forward unless the ideal player is available at the right price.
