Milan left-back Theo Hernandez may miss France’s crucial Euro 2024 match against the Netherlands due to a minor fitness issue. Journalist Fabrice Hawkins reports that the 26-year-old did not attend training on Wednesday because of muscle pain, raising doubts about his availability for Friday’s game.
Hernandez was a key player in France’s narrow 1-0 victory over Austria on Monday. However, France’s squad faced a significant setback in their tournament opener, as star forward Kylian Mbappe sustained a facial injury that will keep him out for the rest of the group stages.
Along with Hernandez, Dayot Upamecano and William Saliba also missed Wednesday’s training session, creating further uncertainty for Didier Deschamps’ lineup against the Dutch.
While it may seem unfortunate, Hernandez’s injury might benefit Milan. The former Real Madrid player had an impressive start to the tournament, attracting interest from Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain. His standout performance against Austria hinted at a potential breakout tournament, which would have likely drawn more attention from foreign clubs, complicating Milan’s efforts to retain him beyond the summer.
