Aberdeen Signs Goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov on Three-Year Deal.
Aberdeen have signed goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov as part of manager Jimmy Thelin’s preparations for the new season. The 27-year-old Bulgarian international has agreed to a three-year deal, becoming Thelin’s third summer signing, following Irish defender Gavin Malloy and Nigerian forward Peter Ambrose.
Mitov will replace last season’s number one, Kelle Roos, who has left the club along with Connor Barron, Johnny Hayes, and Anthony Stewart. Previously named St Johnstone’s Player of the Year after a series of impressive performances, Mitov joins Aberdeen for an undisclosed fee.
Expressing his excitement, Mitov said, “It’s an amazing feeling to be here. As soon as I heard there was interest from Aberdeen, I told my agent to get it done. The club has a huge history, and I loved the atmosphere created by the fans when we played against them. Consistency as a goalkeeper is challenging, but I worked hard last season, and this move is another chance for me to improve and step up. The manager’s vision aligns with my style, and I believe I can help the team going forward.”
Manager Thelin commented, “Dimitar is a key signing for us. He is a talented goalkeeper entering his prime, which is crucial for a successful squad. With his international experience and knowledge of the Scottish game, he was one of the top performers last season. Dimitar is ambitious, and we believe this move will be an excellent opportunity for him as he progresses in his career.”
