Shaftesbury confirms Pitman’s exit from the Cherries due to his coaching duties.
Brett Pitman, a former striker for Portsmouth and AFC Bournemouth, has been released by Shaftesbury, the Rockies have announced. Pitman has not yet been signed by a new team as of this writing. Shaftesbury acknowledged that the travel required at the Step 4 level was a factor in his departure, since he had other responsibilities as a coach at AFC Bournemouth’s academy.
In his lone season at Cockrams, Pitman scored an incredible 59 goals in 45 appearances before leaving the north Dorset team. “After scoring over 50 goals for the Rockies and playing a major part in the club’s promotion to the Southern League, it is with regret we announce Brett’s release,” Shaftesbury said in a statement announcing Pitman’s exit.
“Unfortunately, we knew when we signed Brett that his work responsibilities would prevent him from committing in the higher division should we get promoted. “We want to thank Brett for a fantastic season and wish him all the best.”
