Kelly spent time at Bournemouth and the youth levels of England, so he is already acquainted with a number of Toon players. In an interview with the team’s media channel, he disclosed that talks with Wilson and Barnes completed the transaction.

Kelly remarked, “(I spoke to) a few of the players that I knew previously.” Harvey Barnes and Calum Wilson, with whom I played in the England setup. I spoke with the two players that were mentioned.

Kelly also revealed Newcastle’s probable goals for the 2024–25 season. The Magpies have no edge over any European team in their attempt to duplicate Howe’s first full season in charge.

“It’s a big step for me personally, but I’m ready for the challenge,” he continued. “I’m sure the supporters will want to see the team qualify for the Champions League the following season. When I saw the previous games, they looked absurd. additionally having the ability to place higher in the league.
