“Fraser Crowns Southampton Promotion as Career Highlight”.
The 30-year-old was promoted twice with his previous team, AFC Bournemouth, advancing from League One to the Premier League.
Fraser was named Bournemouth’s player of the season for the 2017/18 Premier League campaign and left the club in 2020.
This season, the diminutive winger played 42 games for Saints and was a man-of-the-match candidate in the match against Leeds at Wembley.
“Although I’ve had other promotions, none compare to this one. This is the best feeling I’ve ever experienced.
“I’ve been saying it for a long time now, but it’s the family, the spirit, the fans, the manager, the team – I could go on and on. There’s just no better feeling.
“A lot was at stake in this game, and the guys were brilliant, defending with everything they had and showing a different side of us.”
He continued: “I think we just push each other through it. We’re such a close-knit group of guys.”
“The manager mentioned in the locker room how much the team has changed over the past couple of seasons compared to now.
“We have no bad influences. Everyone is great, both as players and as people.”
Saints are trying to secure Fraser permanently from Newcastle United, with one year remaining on his current contract.
Significant progress has been made to keep the former Scotland international at St Mary’s, but an agreement for his release is still needed.
Fraser owns a house in Bournemouth, and his partner is from Winchester, making Saints an ideal fit for the former Aberdeen player.
When asked if he will be a Saints player next season, Fraser laughed and said, “I’ll try my best.”
