Exclusive: As transfer plans develop, eight Newcastle United players could leave in the summer.

Although they intend to keep Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak on Tyneside for the upcoming campaign, Newcastle United may wind up releasing as many as eight first-team players before the summer transfer market closes.

To now, Eddie Howe has resisted the urge to completely overhaul his St James’ Park locker room, preferring to keep the majority of his Newcastle team together while adding reinforcements when necessary. This summer could be unusual for a number of reasons.

The Magpies have survived earlier windows without having to give up any of their main players. With the exception of Allan Saint-Maximin, it is difficult to recall a departure that truly hurt the team. Some would even contend that Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes’ arrivals rendered the Frenchman’s exit void.

As Newcastle looks to recover money before their anticipated summer spending spree, Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron could be let go. Financial Fair Play realities are biting harder than ever for most clubs. In January, there was interest in both attackers, and in the upcoming months, potential suitors are probably going to come back and try again to get their signatures.

Wilson’s contract would otherwise end in the summer of 2025, but given his injury history, this would be the ideal time to cash in. Another player who will command a hefty transfer price is Almiron, which might be applied to future acquisitions.

Martin Dubravka is another talented player on the first squad whose future is in doubt. The Slovakian goalie, who has been filling in between the posts lately, will once again be Nick Pope’s backup at season’s end. That is prior to Newcastle possibly adding a backup goalie.

It has been suggested by Dubravka’s representative that his client may go this summer in search of a fresh challenge in his professional life. If the 35-year-old were to depart St. James’ Park, he would probably be able to find football opportunities with the first team.

When Loris Karius’s contract with Newcastle expires next month, he plans to transfer to Germany or Italy, therefore he is also leaving. In a matter of weeks, Matt Ritchie and Paul Dummett may become free agents and join the goalie.

Should Newcastle’s European involvement be confirmed this weekend, it is anticipated that the two will be presented with new contracts. The team from the northeast must defeat Manchester United in the FA Cup final in order to secure a spot in the Europa Conference League for the upcoming season.

“Their contract has expired. Consequently, it would have been a significant risk for them to not have a contract offer right now,” Howe said after failing to get either player a match in Australia.

“The club’s performance in the FA Cup final is really important. We will make a ton of money the following year, and we will qualify for Europe. That will undoubtedly have an impact on the two players we are talking about in the future.”

One local man, Garang Kuol, did make it onto the Australian field. The 19-year-old has recently made two appearances for Newcastle after making two outings in Melbourne. Kuol has had two unsuccessful loan stints recently, but before the summer is over, it is anticipated that he will be moved abroad once more.

“It’s very difficult to say for certain what’s going to happen with a player at this stage because there’s a long way to go before the season starts but possibly another loan spell for him will be important,” Howe said.
