“Nottingham Forest’s Financial Woes Mount: Premier League Club Faces Risk of Additional Points Deduction, Scrambles to Sell Players to Avert Punishment”
Nottingham Forest are under significant pressure to sell players by the end of June to avoid breaching Profit and Sustainability (PSR) rules, which could result in further points deductions.
The club has already faced a four-point deduction in March but managed to stay in the Premier League by finishing 17th. To comply with the PSR, which allows clubs to lose only £105 million over three years (£35 million per season), Forest must submit their accounts for the 2023/24 season by June 30 and balance their books through player sales.
One key player, Callum Hudson-Odoi, has been linked with a move to Tottenham, among others. Forest’s financial predicament might force them to accept lower bids as other clubs are aware of their need to sell.
The transfer window opens on June 14, giving Forest a limited timeframe to arrange and finalize deals to avoid starting the next season with a points deduction.
