“Cowboys’ Offseason Takes a Hit: Micah Parsons and CeeDee Lamb Skip OTAs Amid Contract Disputes”
The Dallas Cowboys experienced a rough start to their OTAs as star players Micah Parsons and CeeDee Lamb were absent, raising concerns about their ongoing contract talks.
Since being drafted in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Parsons has emerged as one of the NFL’s top pass-rushers, consistently contending for Defensive Player of the Year and achieving a personal best of 14 sacks in 2023.
Even though Parsons missed OTAs, the Cowboys have ensured his presence by picking up his fifth-year option for 2025. However, with 40.5 sacks over three seasons, Parsons is aiming for a more substantial long-term contract, expected to be finalized before the season begins.
Parsons is anticipated to rejoin the team fully next week. The Cowboys’ new defensive coordinator, Mike Zimmer, expressed enthusiasm about working with Parsons, noting the challenge of keeping him effective against teams that constantly adjust to counter his abilities.

Lamb is slated to earn $17.99 million in 2024 on his fifth-year option—the final year of his deal—and is eligible for the franchise tag next year, but he wants top-market compensation now.
Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill currently leads with an annual salary of $30 million. Meanwhile, Cincinnati Bengals star Ja’Marr Chase and Minnesota Vikings wideout Justin Jefferson, both considered elite receivers, are also seeking new deals alongside Lamb, complicating the situation as all three aim to reset the market.
Additionally, the Cowboys face Dak Prescott’s contract situation heading into OTAs, indicating a potentially costly offseason for Jerry Jones.
