A player signed by Steve Cooper is returning to Nottingham Forest after his loan club chose not to make the move permanent.

During the busy summer of 2022, the Welsh manager brought 21 new players to the City Ground, but not all were successful, including some from the previous January transfer window. Several of these players, such as Omar Richards, Lewis O’Brien, Emmanuel Dennis, and Josh Bowler, were loaned out. Now, another loanee, Jonathan Panzo, is set to come back to Nottingham Forest and look for a new team.

Sacha Tavolieri reports that Standard Liege decided not to retain Panzo. The Belgian club had an option to buy the English player permanently at the end of the season if things had gone well.

Panzo, who was signed from Dijon for £1.5 million by Cooper in January 2022, is now returning to the City Ground and is expected to find a new permanent club.

Tavolieri stated, “The option to buy will not be exercised. Panzo will return to NFFC and then look for another club.”

The 23-year-old played nine times in Belgium with Standard Liege after a difficult loan period at Cardiff, where he made only four Championship appearances in the first half of the season."Panzo Returns to Forest Roots: The 2022 Cooper Signing Is Back Home...Read more
