According to TEAMtalk, Wolves appear to be ahead of Everton and Leeds United in the competition for Southampton striker Che Adams.

The 27-year-old, whose contract expires this summer and makes him a free agent, reportedly agreed orally to join Wolves after his current contract expires, according to a report on May 17.

The center-forward is believed to be drawn to the prospect of moving back to the Midlands, where he will be near his friends and family, in addition to the assurance of Premier League games.

Che Adams verbally agrees new transfer as Everton circle at Goodison Park

It appears that Everton will not get Che Adams.

Adams would have been a wise addition for Everton, who need reinforcements up front badly but are strapped for cash after losing the season due to two different infractions of the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), which cost them eight points in total.

From a financial standpoint, it would have been wise to sign a striker in his prime who had Premier League experience on a free transfer, if the Scotsman’s wage demands weren’t too high.

There is, however, another side that contends Adams is not what Everton needs.
Only 25 goals in 124 Premier League games, or less than a goal every five games, is Adams’ league record, which does not exactly thrill fans. The powerful center forward set a career high of nine goals in the 2020–21 season, however he has never scored more than ten goals in a single English top flight season.

Despite this, he has had a fantastic 2023–24 Championship season, scoring 16 goals in 40 games in the second tier to tie for sixth place in the top scorers rankings.

But Everton might need a center-forward of a higher caliber if they want to return to their desired level.
