Transfer to Albany Shortly after visiting the Wolverines, Aamir Hall confirmed his commitment to play football for Michigan. U-M now has more depth at cornerback, which is crucial for bolstering their defense, which is still among the best in college football.
On May 15, 247Sports broke the initial story on Hall’s trip to Michigan. Not long after the visit, he pledged his support to the U-M personnel.
“Aamir Hall, a 2023 FCS All-American and former Albany cornerback, is visiting Michigan,” Matt Benitz of 247Sports wrote on Wednesday. “The 6-foot-1 Hall had five interceptions and 15 pass breakups last season.”
U-M has recently had success with selected picks from the Portal, even if an up-transfer from the FCS Albany Great Danes to Michigan will represent a major boost in competition level. Josh Wallace, a transfer from UMass, made a summer commitment to the Wolverines last season and was instrumental in the team’s quest for the national championship. Wallace later surfaced as a potential NFL Draft prospect and signed as a UDFA with the Los Angeles Rams.
Prior to the 2023 season, Hall, a graduate of Baltimore’s Mount Saint Joseph High School, played at Richmond before moving to Albany. During his brief spring season with the Spiders in 2021, he played in four games and recorded 18 tackles along with two pass breakups. During his 11 starts that fall, Hall recorded 10 passes defended and one interception.
In nine games as a sophomore in 2022, Hall racked up 28 tackles, 1.5 of which were for loss, along with an interception, a forced fumble, and three pass breakups.
He committed to UAlbany and used the Transfer Portal in December 2022. There, he excelled at the FCS All-American level. This pick-six, in which he hauled the quarterback more than 25 yards to the end zone, was one of his best plays.
For a Michigan defense that has seen injuries, NFL departures, and Transfer Portal exits diminish its secondary, Landing Hall is a crucial boost.
With four elite starters in Will Johnson, Rod Moore, Makari Paige, and Keon Sabb as well as a collection of young, talented players like DJ Waller, the Wolverines went into the summer well-prepared.
