“Transfer Insider Predicts Tottenham to Sell Key Player Amidst Interest from European Giants”
In terms of arrivals and departures, Tottenham Hotspur is probably going to have a busy summer at N17.Although Ange Postecoglou has performed admirably in his first season at Spurs, much more still has to be done.
This season, Tottenham has already let go of a number of players, and there are still more who are supposedly in the running to leave.
Fabrizio Romano has now reaffirmed Spurs’ desire to offload a specific player in response to interest from a team that will participate in the Champions League the following season.
Emerson Royal is the player in question; he hasn’t had the best season and is probably going to move on in the summer.
What has Tottenham defender Emerson Royal been up to, according to Fabrizio Romano?
GiveMeSport was informed by Romano that “I expect Emerson Royal to leave in terms of outgoings because Tottenham is looking at a new right-back to have a new backup option for Pedro Porro—obviously they are very happy with Porro.”
However, they want one more to spur competition, after which Emerson Royal might decide to go. There are two years remaining on his contract, and AC Milan is quite interested in him.
Emerson Royal is Milan’s main choice for a new right back, and they want to move quickly through the negotiation process.
“They could make it happen in June already, but Emerson Royal has a strong chance of being one of the players who leaves Tottenham in the summer.”
It doesn’t appear like Emerson Royal will stick around at Tottenham. Since leaving Barcelona, Emerson has had a challenging few years, with certain supporters and analysts frequently demanding that he be sold.
Last season, Jamie O’Hara even went so far as to refer to him as a “liability” and that he would “give you £5million to get rid” of Emerson.
Emerson performed admirably at times this term, and Postecoglou lauded him early in the season, describing him as “just outstanding with his attitude and demeanour around the place.”
But as the season draws to a close, he hasn’t exactly improved upon this. He has continued to be erratic and put up some subpar performances. In light of this, Emerson doesn’t seem to have much of a future at Spurs and is likely to leave the team.
Milan isn’t a terrible club to join, though. They are in the Champions League for the upcoming season and won the championship two years ago.
