Josh Richardson has plenty of free time now that the Miami Heat season is finished, and he’s using it to comment on Son Heung-min’s recent performance in soccer.
Richardson made comments about the Tottenham Hotspur player on social media after he squandered a fantastic opportunity to tie the score in the team’s Premier League encounter against Manchester City. Following the wasted opportunity, his team lost 2-0.
Given that Richardson is a well-known follower of Arsenal, it is probable that he was closely following the game on Tuesday. Arsenal and Manchester City would have had the same number of points going into the final day of play if Tottenham had been able to draw with them.
Rather, Man City leads the rankings and has only to defeat West Ham United on Sunday to secure the league title for the fourth time in a row, depriving Arsenal of a chance to win a title that it hasn’t had in more than 20 years.
Arsenal must beat Everton, and Man City must lose its game in order for Arsenal to win. Arsenal would then win the title in a goal-differential tiebreaker.
Richardson and the Heat are no strangers to bittersweet conclusions and missing out on the illusive championship. The Boston Celtics eliminated them in five games during their 2023–24 NBA season, which concluded in the first round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs.
The Heat were not able to create as long of a playoff run as they did in reaching the 2023 NBA Finals, which they lost to the Denver Nuggets, following another lackluster regular season that put them in the play-in round for the second consecutive year. Richardson may find some comfort in the fact that Arsenal might be able to win its first championship in a long time.
