Breaking news: After 12 years, Jale Vatabua is leaving Pau.
Jale Vatabua, an international for Fiji, is reportedly leaving Pau after 12 seasons with the Top 14 team.
The 32-year-old is expected to sign with Dax in the ProD2, via France Bleau. The massive center has not yet formally committed to the team, but general director Adrien Asteggiano has made the signing public.
Dax, who are presently in fifth place and were just recently promoted into the ProD2, are also planning to recruit Mont de Marsan second rower Dino Casadeï.
Since making his international debut in 2017, the center has been a vital member of the Fijian team. His club career has mostly taken place in France, where he has played in the Top 14 league since 2012 exclusively for Pau. After enjoying a spell with Waikato, Vatabua signed with Pau in 2012. He had previously played for the Melbourne Rebels in Australia Super Rugby.
Vatabua participated in the 2019 Rugby World Cup on behalf of Fiji.
The 6’2, 112 lb center is renowned for his physicality and powerful running line.
