“3 Trade Possibilities for Bringing Donovan Mitchell to the Miami Heat”

The watch for Donovan Mitchell has officially begun. Following reports that the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets are preparing trade offers for the Cleveland Cavaliers star, ESPN’s Zach Lowe mentioned on Thursday that the Miami Heat are also “lurking” as a potential contender.

“They’ve been connected with Mitchell over the years,” Lowe stated on ESPN’s ‘Get Up!’ on Thursday morning. “They’re lurking, and they have a lot to offer in terms of picks and young players.”

Here are three potential ways the Miami Heat could trade for Donovan Mitchell this offseason.

3. All of their assets

Lowe is likely referring to young players such as Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Nikola Jovic. While Herro’s trade value has been debated over the past year, the perceived value of Jovic and Jaquez has risen significantly across the league.

Jovic emerged as Miami’s most improved player in his second year, securing a role as the starting power forward, showing defensive improvement, enhancing his outside shooting, and adding value with his full-court transition plays.

Jaquez, regarded as the steal of last year’s draft, quickly impressed as the 18th pick, earning Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month honors in both November and December.

Despite Herro’s potentially decreased value, the overall value of the “Damian Lillard package” has likely increased due to the rising stock of Jovic and Jaquez.

The Heat could offer Herro, Jaquez, Jovic, and another small contract (such as Orlando Robinson) to Cleveland in exchange for Mitchell. Miami also has two available first-round picks and could include a third by trading the 15th pick starting on draft night.
