West Ham United: Scouts jet out on Juan Miranda mission with free transfer on cards

West Ham scouts were in attendance at Real Betis’ clash with Celta Vigo on 12 April with Juan Miranda the focus of their attention, according to HITC.

The sports news outlet reported on 15 April that the Hammers have been watching Miranda since January and see him as a replacement for Aaron Cresswell to provide competition for Emerson Palmieri.

Crystal Palace, Wolves and Brentford have also registered an interest in the Spanish international left-back who will be available for free in the summer transfer window.

West Ham could sign Juan Miranda from Real Betis this summer
Miranda, a graduate of Barcelona’s La Masia academy setup, is still just 24-years-old and has picked up plenty of experience across Europe having made his first-team debut for the Catalan club in 2018 before later moving on loan to Shalke and later Betis.

Since joining Betis permanently in 2021, the Spanish international has thrived, attracting interest from several Premier League clubs with the possibility of a free transfer an eye-catching opportunity for the likes of West Ham.

Cresswell, meanwhile, has been widely expected to leave the club this summer when his contract runs out, although the possibility of a player-coach role at the London Stadium has been mooted should he opt to extend his stay.

In the 2-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen last week, Cresswell struggled to make an impact in a rare start and proved why it will be important for the Hammers to find a suitable replacement for him when the transfer window opens.
