West Ham United: Simon Jordan and Martin Keown clash over David Moyes sack verdict live on air
Martin Keown and Simon Jordan have clashed live on air over whether West Ham United should keep David Moyes beyond the end of the season.
Sections of the Hammers fanbase have called for the Scotsman to be sacked this season, with many supporters slamming the Irons boss’ defensive style and lack of attacking edge in the biggest games.
While Keown insists that the Hammers’ attacking talent could do more with a more font-footed manager, talkSPORT host Jordan has slammed fans for showing their “disdain” to Moyes and “piling” against the 60-year-old.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Friday (12 April, 10:55) he said: “I’m in that position absolutely, sections of the West Ham fanbase and we seem to get them piling on in this show with their disdain towards David and I make the same point.
“Pellegrini made a horlix of it, he spent £40million on Felipe Anderson who couldn’t trap a bag of cement and you’ve got owners that haven’t been the easiest to work with.
“But Moyes has put you into a final that you’ve won, a significant participation in European competition the season before, into a situation where the team is in the top seven of the Premier League. I think you’re absolutely right.”
Martin Keown responded saying: “Do you not watch it sometimes and you think they want to have the ball? I admire what Moyes does, but I think West Ham fans probably feel a bit frustrated that these players are not given their head to play in a more creative way.
“I’m looking at Alvarez, they raided Ajax and brought in some good players. They could maybe do more going forward.”

Will West Ham United sack David Moyes this season?
Moyes is more than used to pressure at the London Stadium as for large parts of his tenure in East London, sections of the Hammers fanbase have been keen to see him sacked as West Ham manager.
While there is an argument to suggest the likes of Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen could benefit from a more attacking style of play, Moyes has transformed the Irons from relegation fodder to a European regular.
Whether that is sustainable beyond the end of this season remains to be seen and defeat in the first leg of their Europa League clash with Bayer Leverkusen is a blow, but they are still competitive in the top half of the Premier League.
The initial indications in East London are that the 60-year-old will still be the man in the dugout come the start of next season, but the debate over whether that will be best for all parties involved will continue to rumble on.
