Dyche has spoken to Branthwaite after missing out on minutes for England

Sean Dyche claims Jarrad Branthwaite’s confidence is ‘boosted’ despite failing to appear for England.

The young centre-back was recently called up to the national side for the fixtures against Brazil and Belgium. However, did not feature in either game as Gareth Southgate opted for the experienced pair of John Stones and Harry Maguire who was replaced by Lewis Dunk against Brazil. Kyle Walker was withdrawn as Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa featured from the bench.

The England boss opted for Dunk and Stones from the start against Belgium before Stones was replaced by Joe Gomez after just 10 minutes.

“You know, I know Gareth well, I respect him. I’ve never tried to put any of my thoughts on him, he asked me about players and the form they’re in. I would say as a manager and someone who cares for the players, that I was surprised he didn’t get a few minutes. That being said, a fantastic experience
