Yankees’ Manager Aaron Boone ‘Really Excited’ About Fan-Favorite’s Recovery
One New York infielder is poised for a bounce-back season
The New York Yankees are in a significantly better place right now than they were at the end of the 2023 season.
New York had an underwhelming 2023 campaign, to say the least. The Yankees dealt with a wide range of injuries throughout the season the club’s lack of depth was on full display.
The Yankees are in a much better place right now and should be considered one of the top teams in the American League. One player who is poised for a bounce-back is infielder DJ LeMahieu,
LeMahieu appeared in 136 games last season but dealt with some ailments. He’s dealt with foot issues but seems to be fully healthy and manager Aaron Boone seems very excited about him.
“DJ looks really, really good,” Boone said. “I’m really excited where he’s at and I think whatever struggles he’s had at different times over the last couple of years, they’ve been physical in nature and I think he’s in as good a place as he’s been in the last couple years. I think a healthy, productive D.J. from an offensive and position-player standpoint puts us in a really good spot.”
If LeMahieu is fully healthy, he could be a game-changer at the top of the Yankees’ lineup. He has two batting titles and Silver Slugger awards under his belt.
New York had one of the worst offenses in baseball last season and fully healthy LeMahieu could help fix that in 2024. The Yankees seem to be in a much better place on paper right now. Hopefully, the club will be able to stay healthy.
