’VERY UNUSUAL…’ SCOTT PARKER AMAZED BY WHERE ANTONIO CONTE SIGNING PLAYS FOR TOTTENHAM NOW

The entertainment Tottenham fans are being provided with under Ange Postecoglou compared to Antonio Conte is like night and day.

This time last season, Spurs were watching their team decline and heading towards finishing outside of Europe altogether.

One of the names and players Antonio Conte brought to the club, before his sacking towards the end of March, was attack-minded fullback, Pedro Porro.

The role the 24-year-old played back then, as a defensive-minded wing-back camped in his own half, to one that is now playing like a number ten, is incredible.

Former midfielder Scott Parker described it as ‘very unusual’ and how, not even teams like Manchester City and Arsenal, are doing this, as he told Premier League Productions (11/03/24 at 10:50 pm).

That was proven over the weekend when Tottenham, up against their Champions League rivals, secured a stunning 4-0 win over 10-man Aston Villa.

It was a serious statement of intent from the team, with Pedro Porro playing a huge role in this all-action and attack-minded Tottenham team boosting their top-four hopes.

“It’s a common theme,” said Parker. “We have seen it with Man City and Arsenal a little bit, bringing fullbacks inside the pitch, but as double pivots.

“Now you are seeing these fullbacks, what Tottenham are doing, they are putting fullbacks on the top line.

“This is Porro running in from an attacking midfield position and running the top line. He is looking to get in behind. This is very unusual.”

Pedro Porro’s attacking talents
It’s fitting that Postecoglou is in charge of a player like Porro because the duo suit one another down to a tee.

The Spain international is at his very best when he is driving forward and he can ping passes at will. Forget about what’s behind you, it’s all about what is in front.

And, as he proved in the FA Cup recently, he also has a wicked strike on him. Don’t be surprised if he becomes a scorer of great goals for Tottenham.

Those first six months at Hotspur Way didn’t go well for Porro, but it is now starting to change on its head.
