Everton are still awaiting 777 Partners to be given Premier League approval ahead of their potential takeover at Goodison Park.
With mixed reports over the Miami-based investment company almost daily, we are no closer to finding out if they will be approved.
There are positives and negatives to the situation. Of course, the delay isn’t helping the club in the slightest. But it’s also good that the Premier League are looking to vet prospective new owners thoroughly.
Issues have centred around whether 777 have the funds to purchase the club and move Everton forward correctly.
One man, Farhad Moshiri, has caused all these problems. The Iranian-based businessman is even making a mess of selling the club to the fit and proper people.
The 68-year-old has spent obscene amounts of money during his tenure at Goodison Park, unfortunately in the wrong places.
And now Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have exchanged words over how money has been spent on the blue half of Merseyside.

Talking on the latest Overlap Fan Debate, Neville questioned why Sheikh Mansour didn’t purchase Everton before completing his takeover of Manchester City in 2008.
Neville said: “I always say this, Abu Dhabi, how did they pick City all those years ago? Why didn’t they pick Everton, for example, who at the time were a bigger club.

“I always say if Abu Dhabi had come into Everton all those years ago. You could get another owner coming into your club with money that could be spent.”
Carragher replied: “They had one. You spent absolutely off-the-scale money; let’s not pretend they haven’t! Everton have spent massive money.

“This is the same Everton that when the Premier League started, you were part of the same big six or big five, and you were voting Sky Sports and the Premier League. Everyone just votes for how they are at the time.
“Bill Kenwright voted for these rules you are now arguing against when they came in 10 years ago because it suited Everton because they didn’t have any money.”
Carragher added: “Everyone just changes their argument, whatever situation they are in. What I’m saying is that you moan about the top six all the time, but when you were in the top five, it was fine. You were fine with leaving everyone behind.”
Carragher isn’t wrong in his assessment; obscene amounts of money have been spent during Moshiri’s tenure, which begs the question, what could have been?
Had Everton been astute, like the Premier League champions, we could have been talking about a club that is firmly in the top six equation year after year.
With 777 Partners’ reputation seemingly no better than Moshiri, it feels like it’s out of the frying pan and into the fire. Only time will tell if this statement rings true.
