‘Incredible’…19-year-old Tottenham gem spotted in training as he tries to tackle Rodrigo Bentancur

Tottenham Hotspur have a long wait until they’re back in action, giving Ange Postecoglou a chance to fine-tune things in training.

Spurs were set to face Chelsea in the Premier League this weekend. However, since the latter are in the Carabao Cup final, Tottenham’s next scheduled game is against Crystal Palace on 2 March.

Considering Spurs lost to Wolverhampton Wanderers last time out – and at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium too – Postecoglou has plenty of work to do ahead of the Eagles clash.

On Wednesday, Tottenham shared a photo from their latest training session at Hotspur Way, with Rodrigo Bentancur having seemingly taken two players out of the equation.

James Maddison can be seen in the background trying to get up, while Spurs academy graduate Dane Scarlett is seen launching into a tackle, which Bentancur jumps over.

Bentancur has endured a difficult season for Tottenham which saw him on the sidelines twice due to injury.

He missed the first few months of the campaign as he recovered from a cruciate ligament tear, then missed December due to torn ankle ligaments.

Luckily Bentancur is back in action and available for Postecoglou. In each of the Premier League games in which he has played over 45 minutes since his most recent return, Spurs have remained unbeaten.

It’s also good to see Scarlett getting stuck in during training sessions. The ‘incredible’ 19-year-old has also endured a difficult season for different reasons.

Scarlett went out on loan to Championship high-flyers Ipswich Town in the summer, but Spurs recalled him after making just 12 appearances in the second tier, without scoring.

The ‘incredible‘ young forward recently impressed Tottenham coaches in training.

Last week, he produced a composed first-time finish to beat Alfie Whiteman, and one coach could be heard shouting: “Yes Dane, good!”

Let’s hope that Scarlett continues to impress in training and perhaps give Postecoglou some food for thought going forward.
