The Detroit Lions Officially Signed a 23-Year-Old Kicker as an Undrafted Free Agent.

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell speaks with the media, the day after losing the NFC championship game to the San Francisco 49ers, in a news conference in Allen Park on Monday, Jan. 29, 2024.

The Detroit Lions attempted the fewest field goals in the league last season mainly because of Dan Campbell’s aggressiveness to go for it on 4th down and the lack of talent at the kicker position.

Riley Patterson played the first 13 games and went 15/17 from field goals and 35/37 from extra points. The Lions released Patterson and replaced him with Michael Badgley for the rest of the season.

Badgley went 4/4 from field goals and 13/15 from extra points during the regular season and went 3/3 from field goals and 11/11 from extra points in the postseason.

The Lions signed a kicker to a contract this offseason.
