‘Really fast’… Pascal Struijk loves watching 26-year-old Leeds United player from the sidelines
It must be a bitter sweet feeling for Pascal Struijk to watch Leeds United from the sidelines as they continue to pick up points, but without him – and Joe Rodon has been excellent without his partner.
On Saturday, Rodon helped Leeds secure a 13th clean sheet in what was his 31st outing for Leeds in a 3-0 win over Rotherham. It strengthens our pursuit of finishing in the automatic promotion places.
The Wales star has been absolutely crucial for Leeds and continued to prove as much on the weekend. Four aerials won, joint first among the Leeds players – as per WhoScored. He did six clearances, as well.
A best, for Leeds. Rodon was solid, convincing in possession and a warrior without it – pretty much what he has been all season. Struijk spoke about him before the game, on the Leeds United’s preview show.
Struijk has been missing for the last seven league games and given the form of Rodon alongside Ethan Ampadu – Struijk might struggle to get back into the side. Nevertheless, he raved about the Wales ace.
“Joe’s a really good player, really fast, strong in the air, good on the ball. There are plenty of qualities I can say about him. Building a centre-back partnership takes time, to understand how eachother plays.
“With Ethan and Joe playing for the National Team together, they know each other so it’s only a good thing for the team,” Struijk discussed, when asked about how good the on-loan Tottenham player is.
Dom Matteo thinks Rodon – who remains only on a dry loan from Spurs – can get even better and that is an exciting thought for Leeds fans. If Leeds have any sense about them, getting him signed is crucial.
The Whites sold Luis Sinisterra last week to Bournemouth on a permanent basis, raking in a fee of £20m for the Colombia man. Surely, it makes sense to make his loan at Elland Road permanent using that fee.
