Piers Morgan shares what Declan Rice is going to do to West Ham United fans v Arsenal
Speaking on talkSPORT on Friday (9 February, 08:17am), the outspoken journalist, who is a Gunners fan, predicted his side to win 3-0 and for the former Hammers captain to score a hat-trick at the London Stadium.
After Morgan claimed that the 24-year-old England international will then kiss the North London club’s badge, host Alan Brazil said “don’t say that”.
“My prediction is 3-0, Declan Rice hat-trick in his old backyard, kissing the Arsenal badge in front of the West Ham fans,” said Morgan.
“Oh no, Piers, don’t say that,” replied Brazil.
It’s clear that Morgan is only joking and trying to wind the West Ham fans up, but there just isn’t any way Rice would ever do that to the people who helped him get to where he is.
The former Hammers captain knows that the club gave him his opportunity in the game and he will no doubt be just as respectful as when the two sides met at the London Stadium in the Carabao Cup back in November.
The midfielder should get a warm reception from the vast majority of the fans, but there is likely to be a small minority that will aim some abuse at him again.
The fact of the matter is, he was an excellent servant for us and we paved the way for the success he’s had and will continue to have over the coming years, so there’s no reason for anyone to boo him.
The main focus for us, though, has to be on getting back to winning ways as we look to compete for a place as high up in the Premier League table as possible this season.
