‘Going to get beaten up’: Michail Antonio says £20m Everton man is now the most ‘disliked’ player in the Premier League
West Ham’s Michail Antonio has been discussing Neal Maupay and sent him a warning over his on-field antics which make him ‘disliked’.
Brentford have seen Neal Maupay return to his goalscoring on his loan from Everton lately. Although his goals are getting little attention in comparison to his on-field antics.
The Frenchman has been leaving his opponents furious for seasons now, but lately, some serious examples have occurred which have now seen Michail Antonio share his view.

Speaking on the Footballers Football podcast along with Tom Cairney, Antonio claimed Maupay is the most hated player on the field when he plays.
“Maupay is known to be a bit of a wind-up! I know someone who knows him and he’s meant to be a nice guy off the pitch but he does it on purpose. I feel he goes on the pitch to rub people up the wrong way and he’s known for it now.
“He is probably the most disliked person on the field. One of these days he is going to get beaten up! Back in the day things used to happen in the tunnel, but it’s 2024 now and you probably wouldn’t get away with it.”
He then admitted that while Maupay needs to watch his back, he actually rates the fact that Maupay is such a natural rattler.
“I’m not going to lie, I rate it! I rate it for him. It’s not something I would do but it’s part of his character, the fact he can just put it on in a game and 90% of the time he knows what he is doing, so it’s a skill that he has.”
Finally, he once more warned Maupay over the fact eventually someone will likely take it the wrong way before making a joke.
“But there is going to be a day where someone is not going to have it and at half-time and at the end of the game he’s going to be in trouble. He better start practising kickboxing!”

While he may be talking a big game on the pitch and getting under his opponents, he’s also backing it up on the pitch with five goals in his last five games for the Bees.
This has been a huge boost for Brentford who’ve seen their form improve but it’s also positive for Everton as he edges closer to an appearance-related bonus.
Additionally, his goals will only make Brentford more likely to sign him permanently.
This could be a very welcome cash influx for the Toffees who are once more in need of revenue.
