Steelers Rumors! Jay Glazer Makes Clear Statement On Mike Tomlin’s Job Security

Despite another season of substandard quarterback play, the Pittsburgh Steelers managed to win 10 games and make the playoffs this season.

It kept intact head coach Mike Tomlin’s impressive streak of never finishing with a losing record since taking over in 2007.

Still, he has had to endure rumors that he could possibly get fired.

Jay Glazer said on “The Pat McAfee Show” that Tomlin will not only not get fired, but that Pittsburgh is the only place he will coach.

“You’re not gonna fire Mike Tomlin and for him it’s Pittsburgh or nothing,” Glazer said.

It hasn’t been easy for the Steelers the last couple of years ever since Ben Roethlisberger retired, but that is how life is in the NFL and it shows how difficult it is to land a franchise-caliber quarterback.

They were hoping Kenny Pickett would be their man when they drafted him No. 20 in 2022, but the University of Pittsburgh product hasn’t panned out.

He was hit by injuries this year, and in 12 games, he completed just 62.0 percent of his pass attempts and threw for just 2,070 yards and six touchdowns.

Pickett sustained a high ankle sprain in Week 13 versus the Arizona Cardinals, and although he was cleared to return for Week 18, he sat as Mason Rudolph started against the Baltimore Ravens.

Pittsburgh does have a solid wide receiver duo in George Pickens and Diontae Johnson, and behind Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren, their ground attack was decent.

On defense, All-Pro linebacker T.J. Watt remains one of the very best pass rushers in the game.

If the Steelers somehow manage to get their hands on a Pro Bowl-level QB, they could be a team no one would want to face in the playoffs next season.
