Tim Sherwood blasts Richarlison’s actions towards Everton during Tottenham draw
When Richarlison left Everton to join Tottenham Hotspur for a club-record transfer fee in 2022, it proved to be a struggle for the versatile striker.
The 26-year-old only managed one Premier League goal under Antonio Conte, but it’s fair to say that it all has changed on its head this season under Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.
On Saturday, that continued when Richarlison netted a brace at Goodison Park as Tottenham recorded a 2-2 draw against Sean Dyche’s Everton.
What’s interesting here is that the Brazil star opted against celebrating both goals, raising his hands up to the Everton fans after his first goal, and then putting his shirt over his head when he scored his second.
Tim Sherwood wasn’t best pleased with his actions by stating ‘if you feel that bad about it, then stop scoring goals’, as he told Premier League Productions (03/02/24 at 1:30 pm).
The former Tottenham boss added that he looked ‘devastated’ at scoring, which you have to question because it’s not like he has been scoring for fun since he moved to Hotspur Way.
From his 58 games in all competitions for Spurs, he has 14 goals, but ten of those strikes have come from his last 20 Premier League matches.
Richarlison doesn’t celebrate against Everton
“If he didn’t celebrate the first one, surely he has to put a smile on his face for his second goal,” said Sherwood.
“If you feel that bad about it, then stop scoring goals. Look at him, he’s devastated. You can’t be devastated.”

Richarlison answers his critics
Look, many people were throwing verbal pelters at Richarlison not so long ago and how he was proving to be a flop purchase.
But he is shutting a lot of those people up now and proving his worth.
There is still a long way to go because he now needs this form to continue during these coming months and during Tottenham’s fight to secure Champions League football.
Ange Postecoglou’s side dropped back into fifth spot yesterday after Aston Villa thrashed Sheffield United 5-0 to open a two-point lead on their rivals.
