After failing to secure a top-half finish in the 2023/24 Premier League season, Brighton may be on the verge of losing their star player.
Recent reports from Germany suggest that Pascal Gross is uncertain about his future at Brighton and might leave the club this summer.
Bild has described Gross’ future as “still pending” while he concentrates on Germany’s 2024 Euros campaign.
Gross has somewhat confirmed these reports, stating he is “ready for a return” to Germany and has been considering it for some time.
However, the adaptable midfielder declined to comment on specific rumors linking him to Eintracht Frankfurt.
“I don’t want to comment on rumors. I am now fully focused on the Euros,” he told Sky Sports Germany.
Gross nearly departed Brighton before the 2022/23 season but ended up re-signing with the Seagulls on a new two-year contract.
The German international’s current contract with Brighton runs until June 2025. He will be 33 years old then.
Brighton signed Gross from FC Ingolstadt for just £3m ahead of their first Premier League season in 2017, a move widely regarded as one of the best value-for-money signings in Premier League history.
On September 9, 2017, Gross scored Brighton’s first-ever Premier League goal in the 45th minute of a 3-1 victory over West Brom.
Since then, Gross has netted a total of 32 goals for the club. No player in Brighton’s history has surpassed his 29 Premier League goals.
Primarily an attacking midfielder, Gross has played every outfield position for Brighton except center back. He has been a constant presence for the Seagulls under three different permanent managers.
If Gross departs this summer, he will be remembered as one of the club’s best and most significant players.
