The Michigan (U-M) Athletics Department will be offering alcohol at events in the Crisler Center and Yost Arena following the approval for state liquor licenses.
The liquor license allows U-M to sell alcohol at venues for U-M events and during a small number of non-athletic events each calendar year.
The following events will be selling alcohol for the first time for each sport:
Friday, Feb. 2: Wrestling meet against Iowa at the Crisler Center
Saturday, Feb. 3: Men’s basketball game against Rutgers at the Crisler Center
Sunday, Feb. 4: Women’s gymnastics meet against MSU at the Crisler Center
Tuesday, Feb. 6: Women’s basketball game against Nebraska at the Crisler Center
Friday, Feb. 9: Ice hockey game against MSU at the Yost Arena
U-M said the regulatory features to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all fans for all events will include all patrons being required to show ID at every purchase, and each transaction will have a limit of two alcoholic beverages per legal drinking age guest.
After reviewing data and experiences at the Crisler Center and Yost Arena, there will be a consideration for selling alcohol at Michigan Stadium.
The university said the move corresponded with an expanded implementation at Crisler Center and Yost Ice Arena of U-M’s Weapons Detection Systems, which was successfully rolled out at Michigan Stadium in the fall. The walk-through system allows U-M to expand its extensive security measures throughout its venues.
U-M encourages guests to arrive early for games/events to ensure a smooth entry into Crisler and Yost.
