Glenn Hoddle is furious Following Inter’s Comeback – “Spurs players must take responsibility “

Glenn Hoddle was not at all impressed by Timo Werner after the Tottenham Hotspur forward missed a great chance to equalise in the first-half against Brentford on Wednesday.
Timo Werner saw plenty of the ball in the first 20 minutes against the Bees. Unfortunately, he was unable to create too much before Neal Maupay broke the deadlock for the visitors.
It was Werner who came agonisingly close to equalising shortly after. The German’s attempt from the edge of the box looked set to squeeze its way into the bottom corner. But eventually, Mark Flekken got across to parry the ball around the post.
From the following corner, Werner had a brilliant opportunity at the back post. He had most of the goal to aim for. And yet, the 27-year-old was only able to nod the ball wide, barely making a proper contact with the ball.
Speaking on TNT Sports (broadcast on 31/1; 19:51), Glenn Hoddle suggested that the January signing should have done so much better with the opportunity.
“Yeah it’s a decent chance there. He’s pulled off lovely off the back post there. He’s found himself in space and it’s just a poor technical header. It really is. He’s took his eyes off it there. Got to punch through the centre of the ball,” he said.
It was hard to have too many complaints with the move to sign Werner earlier in the month. On loan with a £15 million option to buy, it was a risk worth taking for Tottenham. And he went on to provide two assists in the second-half.
Unfortunately, his display in the first-half was something of a reminder of why it has potentially not quite happened for the forward in his career. Ultimately, he showed plenty of promise. But when the crucial moments came, the quality was not quite there.
And that header was the most disappointing error.
