Richard Keys and Andy Gray share ‘Gut Feeling’ on Everton appeal with hearing due to begin
Richard Keys believes Everton may get some points given back to them in their appeal against FFP charges with the hearing due to begin on Wednesday.
The Toffees were docked 10 points earlier this season for breaching profit and sustainability rules, but immediately launched an appeal against the severity of the punishment.
The club have since been charged again for a second breach but while discussing the appeal hearing beginning this week, Everton hero Andy Gray and Keys were hopeful of a positive outcome for the blues while live on BeIN Sport (30 January).
“What’s your gut feeling?” Gray asked. “Because you’re always on top of these sorts of stories.”
“Not this,” Keys replied. “I’ve distanced myself. It’s too close to home for me.”
Gray then suggested he was hoping for good news, before Keys offered his “gut feeling” of the outcome.
“My gut feeling is they might give you a couple of points back.”
Gray then joked they’d be taken away again due to the second charges handed down by the Premier League.
“A couple? And then take them off us again when we’re done again!” he said.

The truth is that nobody has a clue about how this is going to end up, because it seems pretty clear that the Premier League don’t actually know what they’re doing.
The ten point deduction came from absolutely nowhere with no precedent or even reasoning for the severity, which left the whole football world stunned.
The fact the club have been charged for a second time for the same thing seems bizarre considering the appeal which is currently ongoing, as if Everton win that appeal then they will surely appeal the second charges too.
If the club are successful in getting some points back it would be a huge boost considering they find themselves in a relegation battle that they shouldn’t be a part of considering their results this season.
An answer is expected in mid-February so hopefully the team’s position will have improved by then anyway and Keys can be proven right for once.
