Everton now interested in signing record-breaking striker Arsenal sold for just £2m
Everton are reportedly interested in signing Ajax striker Chuba Akpom on loan, with the former Arsenal academy star also wanted by Luton Town.
The 28-year-old attacker was the star of the Championship last season as Akpom broke numerous records for Middlesbrough in what was to be a sensational 29-goal season for the attacker.
With Akpom winning a move to Ajax in the summer, many expected the forward to kick on with Europe’s elite, though the attacker has struggled in Amsterdam, and a return to England could now be on the cards.

According to TeamTalk, Everton and Luton are both interested in signing Akpom on loan, though there could be an issue with convincing Ajax to let the striker go after joining just six months.
Sold by Arsenal for just £2m to Greek side PAOK in 2018, Akpom could thrive in the Premier League if Ajax do grant the 28-year-old permission to leave on loan this week.
Indeed, Akpom is yet to really get started at Ajax despite arriving after a historic season in the Championship, and a loan move to Everton could be ideal for the former Middlesbrough star.

With nine goals in all competitions for Ajax this season, it’s strange to think what the Dutch side can’t see in Akpom having impressed when given a chance this campaign.
Yet for Everton, they need to now jump at the chance to sign the former Championship superstar, who could be an ideal short-term solution for the Toffees.
Goals are missing in Sean Dyche’s system, and with Akpom as prolific as he is, the attacker could be what’s needed for Everton to clear the threat of relegation comfortably in the coming weeks.
Moreover, Akpom himself could be open to finally becoming a regular in the Premier League, with the striker never having the chance despite featuring for Arsenal in his younger years.
