Danny Ings has admitted that he is in absolute awe of one of his West Ham United teammates in particular.
West Ham striker Danny Ings has struggled since joining the club back in January 2023 but in fairness to him, he seems like a very likeable bloke.
And having nice characters like the 31-year-old around will be hugely important for new signing Kalvin Phillips, especially after his disaster-class last night.
Hammers forward Ings has been speaking really highly of Phillips, during an interview with WHUFC.com, and shared exactly what he will bring to the team.

Ings knows the England international midfielder really well it seems, and he’s obviously a massive fan of him.
The Hammers hitman explained just how much Phillips will add to the current West Ham team:

“I know Kalvin and he’s a great guy, and a very good player. He’s a very good addition to the squad here. He comes in with experience and he’s a top lad. He could be a very important player for us. Everyone in the squad is important, but bringing a player in like Kalvin is huge. He makes teams tick. He’s very good on the ball, has great vision and his passing range is unbelievable. He’s great to have in the dressing room, too. He’s fitting in perfectly well and he’s already got established relationships with some of the lads. I’m sure he will want to hit the ground running here.”
Ings is spot on here, Phillips is an elite player. You don’t get a move to Manchester City if you’re not truly top drawer.
We all just need to be patient with the 28-year-old, give him time to settle into life at the London Stadium and get 100 per cent behind him.
Danny Ings will hopefully play a big role in helping Phillips bounce back from his poor display for West Ham on his debut last night. We need the former Leeds man to be at his very best and Ings may well be able to help facilitate that.
